History:
Mr. Potato head was originally invented by George Lerner during the world war 2 era, Which was originally only a design of parts like eyes, noses and ears- but no body. This was because a potato, or another fruit or vegetable was to be used, and it wasn't until 8 years after Mr. Potato head was officially published by Hasbro in 1952 that a plastic "potato" was provided. The toy didn't take off at first, however. Lerner had some trouble getting a company to buy his toy, and this was because the 2nd world war was just ending, and people still wanted to reserve resources, and toy companies didn't think that the average family would want to sacrifice food for their child's play-toy, but Lerner finally sold his toy for $5,000 to a cereal company, which he later bought back to sell to Hasbro, where the toy really kicked off and also was expanded to make Mr. Potato head bored games, puzzles, apparel and more.
